Free Glidden Samples for You & a Friend May 31, 2010

Filed under: Freebies — Heather @ 10:01 pm

Glidden is giving away 2 free paint samples through June 7th (while supplies last). When signing up here, you can add a friend’s email & they will get a code for 2 free paint samples as well. If you want to send the samples to a “friend” that is a family member, hey, who am I to stop you? (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

My husband & I were in Lowe’s today trying to buy paint & take advantage of the rebate, but we couldn’t decide on a color. I’m excited to get these samples & get them on my dining room wall so I can see which one will work best!

Thanks, Thrifty & Thriving!

Today is the last day to use the 80% off code for Restaurant.com (although they seem to have a code a lot!). Use code: FLAG to get 80% off their gift card prices. So, you could get a $25 gift card that sells for $10 for $2 after the code is applied. Stock up on gift cards now & use them later!

I bought my first card this week using the 80% off code & it worked like a charm. I got a $10 card for only 80 cents. How can you beat that?

Avert Your Eyes: $5/$15 Speedo Coupon

I am a coupon whore; regardless of whether or not I want the product featured in a coupon, I’ll keep it because you never know when you can get something free with a coupon & then donate it. But….even I don’t know why anyone would want a $5 off $15 Speedo coupon from Target.

If you want that coupon, print it now, because it will likely hit it’s print limit soon. I was being sarcastic; it’s actually a decent coupon. You can use it on any Speedo product, not just the original (& rather horrifying) Speedo’s.

Free Tote Bag at Cost Plus World Market

Head into your local Cost Plus World Market & get a free tote bag with any $10 purchase. Don’t forget to use the $5/$15 coupon I blogged about previously. Using that coupon will get you $15 worth of goods & a tote bag for only $10.

Also, remember to check out the organic items they have. It’s actually a fairly good selection.

Thanks, Good Deal Mama for the heads up on the tote bag!

Travel: Eco Friendly Family Ranch

I wish we were traveling abroad in the near future, because this place sounds amazing! Rancho Margot is a family friendly, sustainable, self sufficient ranch in Costa Rico. They raise their own chickens, pigs, have a dairy herd, stocked fishing pond, organic garden, & more. Guests can leave it up to the staff, or help with the milking of the cows, collecting of the eggs, etc. It’s up to you to do as little or as much as you want!

If you think your family would be bored there, think again. They offer mountain biking, horseback riding, rappelling, hiking, kayaking, even a lava adventure tour! From the looks of it, you could easily spend a week there & not fit everything in.

Here’s why I think it’s a bargain: They have 2 accommodation options. They have a bunkhouse for their volunteers or budget travelers that has 20 rooms that can sleep 2 people in each(bunk beds) & 5 showers & 5 toilets for the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse rates are $45/night for single occupancy or $70/night for double occupancy. If you crave more privacy or are traveling with your family, you can rent one of 18 bungalows. The bungalow rates are $104/night for single occupancy or $140/night for double occupancy. Additional guests in a bungalow are $40/night (with a maximum of 4 people per bungalow). Children 11 & under are half price in bungalows when accompanied by 2 adults & children under 3 are free.

All of Rancho Margot’s accommodation rates include: breakfast, yoga classes twice per day, a guided ranch tour, internet access, & shuttle rides to & from La Fortuna.

I realize a trip to Costa Rico isn’t really inexpensive, but foreign travel never is. However, these prices seem like a steal considering all you get for the daily rate & all the activities that Rancho Margot offers (however the activities are extra). If you’re looking for a tropical vacation with a bit of adventure mixed in, check out Rancho Margot. Your kids would love hanging out with howler monkeys instead of some theme park mascot for a change!
